As we mark World Mental Health Day, 10th October 2024, it's a vital time to reflect on the mental wellbeing of young people in our communities, including Croydon, Merton, and Sutton. In today's fast-paced, often overwhelming world, it's important to remember that mental health support is out there—and it’s OK to ask for help. We’re committed to offering free, accessible mental health services to young people. Whether you're dealing with stress, anxiety, depression, or any other emotional challenges, we’ve got you covered with our range of free services.

Our Services
We understand that everyone’s needs are different, so we offer a variety of support options to suit you, including:
1. Free Counselling
If you’re between the ages of 11 and 12 and live in Croydon, Merton, or Sutton, you can access free counselling with us. Our qualified counsellors provide a safe, non-judgmental space where you can talk through whatever is on your mind—big or small. Sessions are confidential and tailored to meet your individual needs.

2. Text-Based Support
Sometimes, talking face-to-face feels daunting, and that’s OK. We offer text-based counselling for young people who may feel more comfortable communicating through messages. This service allows you to access professional support in a way that feels easier, more relaxed, and can be done from anywhere.

3. Information Sheets
Sometimes, just having the right information can make all the difference. We offer downloadable mental health information sheets, covering everything from self-care tips to understanding anxiety and depression. These resources are here to empower you with knowledge and practical advice you can refer to any time.

Why World Mental Health Day Matters
World Mental Health Day serves as a reminder to check in with yourself and others. Mental health challenges affect us all, and it’s important to recognise that reaching out for help is a sign of strength, not weakness.

Top 5 Tips for Young People on World Mental Health Day
In addition to the services we offer, here are five practical tips you can start using today to improve your mental wellbeing:

1. Talk to Someone You Trust
Whether it's a friend, family member, or a counsellor, sharing your thoughts and feelings can help you feel more supported. Sometimes just saying things out loud can make them feel more manageable.

2. Practice Mindfulness
Take moment to focus on your breathing or being present each day. This can help to reduce stress and anxiety. There are many free mindfulness apps that guide you through simple exercises to help calm your mind.

3. Prioritise Sleep
A good night’s sleep is crucial for mental and emotional wellbeing. Aim for 7-9 hours of sleep each night and try to establish a calming bedtime routine to help you unwind.

4. Stay Connected
Social support is a huge part of mental health. Even if you're feeling low, try to stay connected with your friends and family. Isolation can make things worse, but a good chat can really lift your spirits.

5. Limit Social Media
Social media can sometimes make us feel worse, especially if we start comparing ourselves to others. Try setting boundaries around how much time you spend on social platforms, and take regular breaks if you find it's affecting your mood.

We’re Here for You
If you’re a young person living in Croydon, Merton, or Sutton, we’re here for you. Whether it’s through free counselling, text-based support, or one of our many resources, we’re dedicated to helping you take control of your mental health and thrive.
